This or That Thursday: Challenge #87 Bookstore Buying

Every week the Bookmark Chronicles poses a bookish question. If you want to check out the challenge click the link.

THIS WEEK IS:When you’re in a book store how do you decide which book(s) you will buy?
Like will you: Know what you’ll buy before you get there; Bring (a portion of) your TBR and narrow it down; Pick the cheapest ones so you can buy the most with the money you have on you; Buy the ones written by authors you know you like;Pick the pretty covers; Browse and read the descriptions; Look up their Goodreads rating; or anything else?

This is a bit tricky for me. I buy a lot of my books online. I don’t often buy books a physical store. It honestly is just a price thing. Amazon is evil and all that but I wouldn’t be able to buy the amount of books that I do if I was paying $17 for a hardback. That being said, I do occasionally buy at a bookstore, there are just too many good ones near me not to and sometimes I have impulses. Continue reading

This Or That Thursday: Challenge #86 Male POV

Every week the Bookmark Chronicles poses a bookish question. If you want to check out the challenge click the link.

THIS WEEK IS: HAVE YOU EVER READ A DYSTOPIAN (STAND ALONE OR SERIES) WITH A MALE PROTAGONIST?

I have not read any dystopian told strictly through a male’s point of view or with strictly a male protagonist. I have read I think a couple told through dual point of view. There’s the Legend series by Marie Lu, which I enjoyed and is told through chapters alternating between our male and female protagonists. Continue reading

This or That Thursday: Challenge #85 Current Reads

Every week the Bookmark Chronicles poses a bookish question. If you want to check out the challenge click the link.

THIS WEEK IS: Would you recommend the book that you are currently reading? (Or the one that you most recently finished if you haven’t picked up a new one).Let me know what it is and why or why not.

I just finished Firstlife and Lifeblood by Gena Showalter—the first two books in the Everlife trilogy. I will be posting a review for both soon hopefully but just to some it up, I would totally recommend them. The series takes place in this world where we live two lives and you have to choose between two different worlds in your second spirit life. They try to recruit people and are trying extra hard to recruit our protagonist—Ten.  Continue reading

This or That Thursday: Challenge #84 Subscription Boxes

Every week the Bookmark Chronicles poses a bookish question. If you want to check out the challenge click the link.

THIS WEEK IS:Have you ever ordered a book subscription box? If so, which one and would you recommend it?(Even if it was just one time, it counts)

I haven’t. I really want to though. I just never get up the courage to buy one because I’m always like ‘what if I don’t like the book I get?’ But they usually also come with bookish swag and items and I love that so I don’t know. Eventually I will give it a try.  Continue reading

This or That Thursday: Challenge #82 Steampunk

So every week Rae from the Bookmark Chronicles poses a bookish question. If you want to check out the challenge click the link. I actually have missed the past couple weeks and am just jumping back into it here.

THIS WEEK IS:Have you ever heard of/read steampunk?

Steampunk is a genre of science fiction that has usually has a historical setting and features steam-powered  or more technical machinery rather than advanced futuristic technology. It’s like science fiction but not what you normally think of as science fiction—space crafts, laser beams, talking robots, etc. Continue reading
