Series I’m Catch Up on This Year!

I have a ridiculous amount of series on my shelf that I have either not even started (even though I own all of the books) or that I’ve fallen behind on. I’ve been especially bad this past year because I was in a bit of a slump, and a lot of series I was reading came out with new books.

So, as one of my 2019 resolutions, I’m going to try and catch up on my series! These are just some of the ones that are on my list. Let me know if you’ve read any of them or if they’re on your list as well in the comments!

Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden

My boyfriend got me the first book in this series The Bear and the Nightingale for my birthday probably two years ago now and I still haven’t read it—I know, I’m horrible. But Katherine Arden is actually coming to my local book store to celebrate the release of the third book in the series, and I’d love to meet here, so this series in on my list to start reading and like soon.

The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I had read Illuminae closer to when it first came out, but never continued on when the other books came out. It’s that whole like if I have to wait for the next book to come out, sometimes I just am no longer super interested or it’s been too long and I’ve forgotten everything.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

Tower of Dawn put me off a bit, I did not want to read a full Chaol book, but now I know I need to power through cause I NEED to read Kingdom of Ash.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I think I read part of the second book, A Torch Against The Night, but never finished. I know if I get into it thought I’ll love it.

Charlotte Holmes Series by Brittany Cavallaro

I really enjoyed the first book in this Sherlock Holmes-reimagining. The second book has been sitting on my shelf a while and the fourth is coming out this year, so it seems like the perfect time to get back into it.

Stalking Jack the Ripper Series by Kerri Maniscalco

This series was super unexpected for me. I like loved the first book and am excited to continue on!

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

So many people rave about this series. I have both Caraval and Legendary and I’m hoping to catch up before the final book comes out this May.

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

Honestly I don’t know if I’m going to be super into this series, but since I already have two of the books I feel like I at least need to give it a try. Have you read it? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

The Gold Seer Trilogy by Rae Carson

How have I not started this series when I’ve had the first two books for like forever.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

I really enjoyed Marie’s Legend series, so when I saw the Young Elite books on BookOutlet I jumped on them. Now I just need to read them!

Let me know what series you’re determined to catch up on this year in the comments!

  1. I just finished reading The Winter of the Witch recently and it was beautiful and heartbreaking. I want to finish the Stalking Jack the Ripper Series this year as well.

  2. Ugh I gave away my ARC of The Bear and the Nightingale (with the intention of getting it back eventually) and I’m so sad. I’ve heard really good things about it. I’ve decided to completely skip Tower of Dawn altogether with just the cliffs notes from a friend about the important plot points (honestly, I’m 75% of the way through and only a few things that happened seem important but that could just be me). I need to start/finish a majority of these series too. Good luck with everything!

  3. I’ve actually only read the first Dorothy Must Die, back in 2016, but I remember really enjoying it! It was funny and strange and kind of lowbrow in that really enjoyable way. Also, I’ve only read the first book of The Young Elites but hot dang it’s an amazing book and you should definitely read it as soon as you can!
