This or That Thursday: Challenge #93 Typos

Every week the Bookmark Chronicles poses a bookish question. If you want to check out the challenge click the link.

THIS WEEK IS: Have you ever found a typo (or typos) in books?

Honestly no. I don’t feel like this should be super surprising though, books go through lots of people and lots of edits before they are finished and printed. I think maybe the only place I would possibly find a typo is a galley/unfinished copy or maybe a book from a self-published author.

Not saying anything against self-published authors, I know they do crazy editing still, but they don’t have as large as a team and that means less eyes. I also make typos all the time and my spelling isn’t always on point so there’s a chance that there is a typo and I’m missing it. As long as it’s nothing that really obstructs my reading or changes the meaning.

  1. Yeah pretty much the only real time I’ve encountered it was in self-published stuff, or in galleys. I have an early ARC for a book coming out in September or October, and the very first line is “Darkness still falled,” which isn’t an actual word. It has really put me off wanting to read the entire book if I’m honest! I hope it gets fixed before the actual publication!
