TV Shows I’m Watching

I wanted to do this post because media other than books, especially television is a big part of my life. I do not have cable currently at my apartment, so I watch things online usually either streaming or just like finding it online. These are shows I am currently watching. I might be doing a finished and favorites post sometime. Let me know if you watch any of these or if you have any recommendations!

Supergirl – The CW

I started watching this show on Netflix. I love it. Kara Danvers—aka Supergirl—is my hero and like her outfits are my life goals. She dresses so on point in real life—not superlife. I mean not only is it great to have a female lead superhero but the show also highlights queer relationships. The writing is good, it is a mix of serious and light, and has just a twinge of humor and romance. Currently the show is on break and I can’t take it.

The 100 – The CW

Pronounced: the hundred. I love this show! Netflix has the first couple seasons. I will admit the first season is iffy and the acting is a little awkward, push through it. The end of the first season and onward just gets so good. Essentially, we bombed ourselves into radiated oblivion and the only survivors were on space stations. Forever later, the station is running out of air so they send a hundred “juvenile delinquents” who have been locked up to see if they can survive on Earth. Can you imagine a hundred kids free without adults? Also—for those of you that watch—Bellamy and Clark are my OTP.

Game of Thrones – HBO

I am sure if you follow me you might know I watch Game of Thrones, I have mentioned it before when talking about the books. I am so so ready for this show to come back. I don’t even feel like I need to explain what it’s about, you should all know and watch it. I literally suggest this to everyone. I mean romance, deception, kings, queens, plots, war, revenge., family. It has it all—warning though, definitely adult content.

Outlander – Starz

I am still behind a bit with this—I got two episodes into season two and just fell out of watching because I don’t have Starz. Also like I have no time. But this show makes me swoon. Claire gets thrown back in time—from post-WWII to 1700s Scottland. Brits and Scotts are warring. Her husband is back in her own time. She is a woman alone in a time when women lacked power. But in comes Jamie Fraiser. Heart eyes. This is another show I recommend to literally everyone—warning though, definitely adult content.

The White Queen & The White Princess – Starz

I just started The White Queen—about five episodes in—and plan starting The White Princess after. It is based off a couple of Philippa Gregory novels—you probably know her from The Other Boleyn Girl. This is pre-that, pre-Tudor. Staring in 1464, it follows King Edward IV as he fights for the throne . It is very Romeo and Juliet, with the warring houses of York and Lancaster—there is this huge period of warring for the crown known as the War of the Roses because the red and white rose were the houses sigils. But it all starts with Edward—a York—falling for and secretly marrying a Lancastrian country girl. It is true and such an incredible story. It focuses on and follows a group of women and they are all so smart and badass I can’t even.

Stranger Things – Netflix

My boyfriend and I recently watched the first season together. I was a little behind the bandwagon but am now addicted. I can’t wait for the next season. The ending was wow. Anyway it’s like an 80s supernatural, government conspiracy, crime type show. I loved the setting. Writing was superb. And the kids were like the best thing ever.

A Series of Unfortunate Events – Netflix

Another Netflix series I now miss because I binge watched. I never got into the books but I really enjoyed this. I don’t think I’m addicted or like super devoted but plan on watching the next season anyway. Need to figure out what happens. God there was such a twist, like the snow killed me with that.
LEAVE ANY RECS YOU HAVE IN THE COMMENTS, I’M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW SHOWS!

So many good shows, I’ve just finished season two of Outlander (love the actors and costume design). I’ve also watched Seasons 1& 2 of The 100 and Stranger Things (trying to be patient for season 2!). Right now I’m watching Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries Season 2 on Netflix. What type of shows do you like? I’d be happy to recommend some.

I am a HUGE Supergirl show (I blame Arrow for starting me off on this entire thing) and love whenever they do crossovers with the other Arrow-verse shows, especially Flash! The cast on both shows is so fun (I’ve loved Grant Gustin who plays Flash since he was on Glee!) and the shows aren’t too serious which is really great! Just one more week until we get new episodes!

I’ve kind of given up on The 100 to be honest. I used to really love it but I’ve fallen out of love since. But Bellarke are still my OTP for that show!

I would absolutely recommend One Day At A Time! It’s such a fun show and I’ve watched it three times already since it premiered on Netflix in January! SO GOOD. And so funny too! Like, laugh out loud type of funny!

I’ve just seen the first season of Supergirl because that’s what was on Netflix, but I loved it way more than I thought I would. I had hesitated to start watching it because all of the promotion looked super cheesy, but I’m glad I gave it a shot. It’s cheesy in the best way! I’ve been watching a bunch of the DC shows, and I’ve been really happy with most of them. Arrow’s gritty, and The Flash is a nice balance between the pessimism and darkness in Arrow and the optimism and almost eternal sunshine in Supergirl. I gave up on Legends of Tomorrow because it was just getting too plot twisty, and I stopped caring.

I also loved Stranger Things, and I’m so excited for Season 2!
