Top 5 Wednesday: Spooky Settings

Top Five Wednesdays started on Goodreads back in 2013. At the beginning of every month Sam from ThoughtsOnTomes posts a topic for each Wednesday and bloggers, vloggers and overall book fans are encouraged to respond with their top five.

This week is your top spooky settings. Honestly some of these are less spooky and more scary/creepy. I don’t read a lot of horror or scary books, so this was a little bit hard. Let me know what your top five are in the comments!

reign of shadows1. Relhok from Reign of Shadows

The kingdom of Relhok has been shrouded in the darkness of an eclipse for seventeen years. I mean can you imagine? Living in perpetual darkness. And if that’s not enough these vicious creatures called dwellers thrive in the darkness and feast on anyone they can find. Seriously this is like The Walking Dead, but even worse. I probably wouldn’t survive.

2. Venda from The Remnant Chronicles

I grew to love Venda the deeper I got into this series. But honestly, from the outside it is a little spooky. I mean there’s rituals with bones and evil kings. Plus, Lia gets all these visions of a woman long dead. Spooky.

house of hades3. Tartarus from The Heroes of Olympus Series

Tartarus is where the worst of the worst monsters live. It’s a concept throughout the whole Percy Jackson series, but in House of Hades it becomes a reality. Tartarus is probably the scariest place ever. I know I could never make it out of there alive when Percy and Annabeth barely did.

4. The Fire Swamp from The Princess Bride

Lighting sand, flame spurts, and rodents of on usual size oh my! This place would be seriously creepy after dark.

5. Luna from The Lunar Chronicles

Living in a planet ruled by the manipulative Levana is definitely scary.
