The Ones That Got Away

I’m a binge reader. And that’s fine and dandy until I’ve read so many books in a row that reviewing them all becomes impossible. This post is inspired by a similar one written by Chrissi @ Chrissi Reads, and is going to spotlight some of the recent reads I’ve bypassed writing reviews for.

winner's curseTHE WINNER’S CURSE BY MARIE RUTKOWSKI

As a general’s daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction.  Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him—with unexpected consequences. It’s not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin. But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.
MY THOUGHTS: LOVED THE MILITARY WORLD BUILT, GREAT DYNAMIC BETWEEN KESTREL AND ARIN, CAN’T WAIT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

islaISLA AND THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER BY STEPHANIE PERKINS
Hopeless romantic Isla has had a crush on introspective cartoonist Josh since their first year at the School of America in Paris. And after a chance encounter in Manhattan over the summer, romance might be closer than Isla imagined. But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to confront the challenges every young couple must face, including family drama, uncertainty about their college futures, and the very real possibility of being apart.
MY THOUGHTS: ADORABLE ROMANCE, AS GREAT AS THE FIRST BOOK, LOVED THE DIFFERENT SETTINGS, CUTE CAMEOS FROM OLD CHARACTERS

While Hannah Wells might be confident in every other area of her life, she’s carting around a full set of baggage when it comes to sex and seduction. If she wants to get her crush’s attention, she’ll have to step out of her comfort zone. All Garrett Graham has ever wanted is to play professional hockey, but his plummeting GPA is threatening everything. If helping Hannah make another guy jealous will help him secure his position on the team, he’s all for it. But when one unexpected kiss leads to the wildest sex of both their lives, it doesn’t take long for Garrett to realize that pretend isn’t going to cut it.
MY THOUGHTS: STEAMY, FUN, HAS DEPTH, GREAT INTRODUCTION TO NEW ADULT GENRE

Ooh I love this idea. I have a ton of books I need to write reviews for, but I’m seriously lacking the energy and inspiration so I might have to do something like this too!

I really need to read The Winner’s Kiss. I’ve been interested in Legend too, but I think I’m going to read The Young Elites first.
