Top 5 Wednesday: Favorite Mothers

Top Five Wednesdays started on Goodreads back in 2013. At the beginning of every month Sam from ThoughtsOnTomes posts a topic for each Wednesday and bloggers, vloggers and overall book fans are encouraged to respond with their top five.

This week is top five favorite mother figures—just in time for Mother’s Day. Check out my picks below and let me know what you think in the comments!

1. Molly Weasley from Harry Potterharry potter

I can’t have a list of amazing mothers and not include Molly Weasley. Not only does she raise seven of her own children, Molly basically adopts Harry into the Weasley clan.

2. Mrs. Lancaster from The Fault in Our Stars

Hazel’s mom may be minor character but it’s very clear that she’s a great parent. Her daughter has cancer and she does everything she can to take care of her. Yet what I really like is that she still manages to have a life of her own, studying and taking classes in her free time.

3. Sally Jackson from Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Sally Jackson does everything she can to keep Percy safe—including marrying Gabe, hoping that his smelly and repulsive scent would keep the monsters away.

4. Marmee from Little Women

Marmee is the heart and sole of the March household. She works hard, is charitable, highly principled, and always has time for her daughters.

5. Catelyn Stark from A Song of Ice and Fire

All Catelyn Stark wants is her children safe. She waits by Bran’s bedside for months and goes to war for her daughters. Even death can’t keep her from avenging them.

Catelyn Stark was so great!!! I forgot to add her! (Well, probably because I only watched the series and haven’t even finished the 1st book!)
