This or That Thursday: Challenge #33 Casting The Selection Movie

this-or-thatthursday new

So every week Rae from the Bookmark Chronicles poses a this or that question. If you want to check out the challenge click the link. I will be posting my answer every Thursday.

This week is:
Getting to cast the movie for a book of your choice or rewriting a book of your choice?

selectionI don’t think I have the right to rewrite anyone’s book—that’s their baby. So, I’m choosing to cast the movie adaptation of a book. There’s a lot of books that I’d like to see (well done) adaptions of, but for the sake of this post I’m choosing to cast Kiera Cass’ The Selection

I really love this series, and its movie rights have actually already been optioned by Warner Bros—to be produced by DiNovi Pictures, which is behind the movie versions Nicholas Sparks’ The Lucky One, Gayle Forman’s If I Stay, and Ann Brashare’s The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

The Selection had been previously picked up by CW, with two different pilot episodes being made. Obviously this fell through.

Anyway I’m going to throw out some cast choices. I’d have Sophie Turner play America. Turner is Sansa in Game of Thrones, so she’s a pro at playing a strong female character. To me she’s also a spitting image of the model on the cover, with the narrow face and red hair. And if you’ve seen her at award shows you know Turner can easily rock beautiful gowns. She’s also only twenty, which is great because I hate when they cast like late-twenties or thirty year old actors as teenagers.

And for Maxon I’m really gravitating towards Josh Hutcherson—even though he’s already Peeta.
