Just the other week I went to see country singer Kelsea Ballerini in concert at Boston’s Royale. I’ve been playing Ballerini’s album The First Time on repeat for months, her singles “Dibs” and “Love Me Like You Mean It” are two of my go-to jams. And let me tell you she’s just as good live as she is on the radio.
Country singer-songwriter Hailey Steele opened for Ballerini. To be honest I had never heard of Steele before she walked onto the stage, but I was pleasantly surprised.
On the songwriting front—if you’re a country fan—you may know Steele as the writer behind RaeLynn’s single “Boyfriend.” Steele has an alternative version of the single on her EP.
But the song I think you should give a listen to is Steele’s “Diamonds.” It’s super relatable to anyone who’s ever felt like they weren’t where they wanted to be.
Favorite lyrics: “Cause diamonds take patience, and pressure, and time.”
Give the song and Steele’s EP a listen below and let me know what you think in the comments!
